2022 ANTHOLOGY - LOST IN THE WEEDS - SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

It's anthology time! The theme for our 2022 anthology has been selected and submissions are OPEN!

Every year we pick a theme out of a hat (or tupperware, in this case) and make a book out of it. This year, the theme is 'Lost in the Weeds'. We're looking for stories about the lost, the frustrated, the distracted and overly focused.

Want to submit a story? The deadline for final art is October 1st! If you've been active on our Discord server, or email requesting participation, and meet the deadline, you're in. We’ll have a check in during August to make sure everyone’s on track, more details about that to come.

Art File Requirements:

* One to five pages

* Black and white

* Minimum 600 dpi resolution

* Formatted as a .TIF (preferred) or .JPG

The anthology will be 8.5"x11". This means your 'live' area (text and important artwork) needs to be 8"x10.5". If you have bleeds (art that goes to the edge of the page), they need to go to 9" x 11.5". Here's a print guide to help you lay out your pages: https://www.letsmakecomics.org/s/page-guide.jpg

Files should be submitted via Google Drive, Dropbox, or another cloud storage service - they're usually too large to send over email. We'll send instructions to participants closer to the submission deadline.

Stories will be reviewed for content - swears are fine, slurs are not, no porn or gore, don't be racist, sexist, ableist, transphobic, or otherwise an asshole to marginalized groups and identities.

Payment is $20/page for up to five pages as well as five comp copies and the right to buy additional copies at cost as long as they're available. Payment and printing depends on the Kickstarter getting funded - if it doesn't, the anthology doesn't get made (or we explore a digital-only option) and we won't be able to pay (all rights revert to you). In return, we get the non-exclusive right to publish and sell your work physically and digitally as part (and only as part, we won't print it separately or as part of a different collection) of the Lost in the Weeds anthology in perpetuity.

If you're interested in participating, email us at letsmakecomics.chicago@gmail.com!
